A digital learning tool that increases children’s awareness of marine litter. «Heromiko» is an educational mobile game for 10-12 year olds which is all about saving vulnerable animals along the Norwegian coast from the evil plastic pollution. The player is a plastic hero who handles virtual or real-life tasks where the goal is to clean up the marine litter and prevent new plastic waste from coming to a halt. The game consists of ten levels that concerns the ten places in Norway that are hardest hit by marine litter. In addition to clean up the plastic waste, the player collects factual knowledge about the topic that must be learned by the player to get to higher levels. The game thus makes the user more enlightened and engaged to show environmental responsibility.
